The Sustainable Development Forum 2025
The Caribbean and Africa share deep historical, cultural, and economic ties, as well as common challenges and opportunities in the face of global transformations. Both regions are poised to leverage trade and investment through digital access advancement, energy innovation, and creative industries, which can ultimately drive sustainable development and climate resilience for the Caribbean.
The Global Africa Business Initiative ‘Unstoppable Africa 2025’ will convene under the theme: “The BIG Push: Africa’s Time to Shape the Markets.” Therefore, the UN Global Compact Network Caribbean aims to leverage this Side Event as an opportunity to engage private and public sectors, international partners, and global investors to explore opportunities for sustainable climate-resilience, regional economic integration, and responsible business practices across the global south.
Objectives
- Highlight Caribbean leadership and innovation in building climate resilience, particularly in SIDS.
- Promote global solidarity among multilateral financing systems.
- Demonstrate how resilience can be achieved by driving growth through sustainability.

The Sustainable Development Forum (SDF) 2025 Report provides a detailed overview of the inaugural event organized by the UN Global Compact Network Caribbean, held on September 21, 2025, in New York alongside the Global Africa Business Initiative.
The report captures key themes such as financial reform through the Bridgetown Initiative, Africa–Caribbean trade and governance, gender-responsive climate action, and data sovereignty. It emphasizes the role of SME empowerment, climate finance innovation, and creative industries in driving resilience and sustainability.
The document concludes with a “Roadmap to Resilience,” outlining strategic actions to strengthen private-sector sustainability, enhance regional ESG alignment, deepen Africa–Caribbean partnerships, and empower youth and creative sectors toward achieving equitable and climate-resilient growth.
